There’s an interesting lineup of films scheduled to be released in May 2022. A new nature docu-series called Wild Babies is scheduled to debut in April, as will a Middle Eastern horror film called A Drop of Blood. There’s also a romantic teen film called Along for the Ride, which is based on a book about two carefree teens living in a small Turkish town before they go off to college. Despite being delayed until May, some of the movies are worth checking out.
Downton Abbey: A New Era
After the success of the first season, a new series is looming: “Downton Abbey: A New Era.” The popular British TV series has become one of the most watched dramas of all time. With over fifty episodes and a massive cast, the show has been a hit on ITV for six seasons. The final season of “Downton Abbey” is scheduled for release in May 2022.
The upcoming season will feature new cast members. Fans can expect to see Hugh Dancy, Maggie Smith, and Dominic West, as the family’s servants. The film’s screenplay is by Julian Fellowes and will be produced by Gareth Neame and Liz Trubridge. Simon Curtis will direct the film. It’s a period drama with all the hallmarks of Downton Abbey.
The third installment of Park Chan-wook’s Vengeance Trilogy re-tells a twisted revenge story. A man locked away in a room for 15 years without ever knowing who put him there is the central plot of the trilogy. The original Korean version of this story is just as gripping as the 2013 remake, but I’d avoid the Josh Brolin-led American remake. The plot is as gripping as it sounds, so be sure to check it out when it arrives on Netflix.
The film takes aim at America’s obsession with true crime, and stars B.J. Novak, the director and writer of “The Office.” The movie is a darkly comedic thriller about a media guy who moves to rural Texas to investigate the death of his former lover. Novak is joined by a stellar cast, led by Boyd Holbrook. The cast also includes Eli Bickel and Dove Cameron.
Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers
The Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Ranger movie is set to release in 2022 and is directed by Akiva Schaffer. This live-action comedy is based on the classic Chip and Dale cartoons. It will feature a cast of A-list actors. Among those who will be starring in the film are Tim Robinson, Tress MacNeille, Keegan-Michael Key, and Andy Samberg. The movie will also star Keegan-Michael Key in supporting roles.
This animated movie is directed by Akiva Schaffer, who previously worked as a member of the band Lonely Island. He has directed a few other films, including Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping. His talent has been widely recognized and he has a diverse background in animation. Although the film is not a perfect remake of the original cartoon, it is still a fun ride that focuses on the values of teamwork and working together.
Mr. Harrigan’s Phone
The novella collection, If It Bleeds, will feature Mr. Harrigan’s Phone, a young boy who befriends an enigmatic character through his phone. The movie adaptation of this novel has not yet been announced. The story follows a young boy, who works for Mr. Harrigan in his youth, who buys a smart phone to remember his friend, Mr. Harrigan. After leaving a message for Mr. Harrigan’s phone, the boy discovers a mysterious reply.
The film adaptation is currently in production and could lead to more King stories. There are already several King projects in development. The film will star Donald Sutherland and Jaeden Martell as Mr. Harrigan. It will premiere on Netflix this fall. The movie also stars Kiri Howell-Baptistististististististististist and Joe Tippett. The movie is expected to be rated PG-13 by the Motion Picture Association.
Avatar 2 is one of the most anticipated sequels of all time, and Disney is ready to show it off with a new trailer. Set several decades after the events of the first film, the sequel will follow the Sully family and the tragedies and adventures they face. The cast includes Sam Worthington, Kate Winslet, Michelle Yeoh, and Edie Falco. We’ll see more about the story in the trailer, which debuted at CinemaCon in late April.
The first film introduced the characters of Jake Sully, a human, who was brought to the world of Pandora by the R.D.A., a military force that wants to conquer Pandora. Weaver’s role in Avatar was unclear after the events in the first film, but the actress confirmed that she’ll return. Weaver has also confirmed that she’ll be back in Avatar 2, but not in the same role. She’ll be back to play Neytiri’s Na’vi kids, and she’ll also adopt a human son named Spider.
